Landfill
The Orono Disposal Site, located off outer Forest Avenue, is open Wednesday and Saturday from 8am to 4pm. If the scheduled day falls on a municipal holiday, the disposal site will usually be open on the next regular weekday during the same hours. This disposal site is for wastes generated within the municipial boundaries and which are not acceptable for curbside collection.
Help prevent litter. Please secure your load.

Types of Waste

Acceptable Wastes:
Only the following wastes generated within the municipal boundaries of Orono will be accepted at the disposal site:
- Boards, which may be burned
- Demolition debris including earth, plaster, mortar, bricks, building blocks, roofing materials, drywall, and any similar materials.
- White goods including discarded washers, dryers, and stoves.
- Freon "type" containing appliances including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, etc., can be disposed of for an additional fee of $20 per appliance.
- Auto body parts and other heavy metal materials.
- Bulky materials such as mattresses, old furniture, and carpet.

Unacceptable Wastes:
- Refuse, household trash, garbage, clothing, fabric
- Tires (can be placed curbside with household trash -- limit 2 per week, without rims
- Branches leaves, trees, stumps, roots, and limbs
- Motor vehicles; junk vehicles
- Propane tanks
- Batteries
- Corrugated cardboard
- Five-gallon or larger drum containers, unless one end is open and the drums and/or containers are clean
- Monitors, PCs, or TVs
