Zero Sort Recycling is Here!

June 10, 2013, the Orono Town Council approved an agreement with Pine Tree Waste to begin the process of transitioning the Town’s residential curbside recycling program from a sorted collection to Zero Sort Recycling. Plans are now underway to fully implement the Zero Sort collection process by July 1st

Zero Sort recycling is a more efficient and convenient way of collecting residential recycling. Residents are no longer required to sort recycled materials for curbside collection. Materials simply need to be placed curbside in a recycling bin or otherwise clearly marked container marked "Recycling". Recycling stickers for your containers are available at the Town Office. Materials can also be placed in clear plastic trash bags. Pine Tree Waste will be collecting recycled materials every other week , on your trash day; Thursday or Friday. As always, be sure to have your items placed curbside by 7:00 am on your collection day.

For more information about Zero Sort Recycling CLICK HERE, or visit  www.zerosort.com.

Pine Tree Waste has been contracted to do the collection. They will be doing this with a large compactor truck, much like the trash collection truck. Recycling trucks have the Zero Sort emblem on them. Do not be alarmed if it appears that the trash collection truck is collecting your recycling, they look very similar.
